About Amoxycillin 500 MG Capsule

As a penicillin antibiotic, Amoxycillin 500 MG Capsule treats bacterial infections. It interferes with the synthesis of the cell walls in bacteria and stops it from growing. This is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract.

It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, and gonorrhoea. This medication when used with an antibiotic clarithromycin, it treats stomach ulcers. You should not use it if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic.

in patients with active duodenal ulcer disease or a 1-year history of duodenal ulcer. The combined use of lansoprazole and Amoxycillin 500 MG Capsule is approved for patients unable to take clarithromycin.

This medication can make birth control pills less effective, so ask your doctor about using non-hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding.

Some forms of this medicine may be taken with or without food. Dosage is as per doctor’s prescription and it varies according to age, medical condition, and severity of the condition.

Symptoms of Amoxycillin 500 MG Capsule overdose include neuromuscular hypersensitivity (agitation, hallucinations, asterixis, encephalopathy, confusion, and seizures) and electrolyte imbalance with potassium or sodium salts, especially in renal failure.

Hemodialysis may be helpful to aid in the removal of the drug from the blood, otherwise most treatment is supportive or symptom directed.

Take entire prescription, even if you are feeling better. Take at equal intervals around-the-clock; may be taken with milk, juice, or food. If condition being treated worsens or does not improve by the time prescription is completed.

      • Dialysis: Moderately dialyzable (20% to 50%) by hemo- or peritoneal dialysis; approximately 50 mg of amoxicillin per liter of filtrate is removed by continuous arteriovenous or venovenous hemofiltration (CAVH); dose as per Clcr <10 mL/minute guidelines.
