About Procold Tablet
Procold Tablet is primarily prescribed to treat common cold and associated symptoms. This tablet is composed of Paracetamol, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine, Ibuprofen, Zinc.
The major active constituent of this medicine is classified as a mild analgesic which is used to treat fever and is the most commonly used as a pain reliever. This medication is used to relieve pain in case of a backache, headache, arthritis and toothache. This tablet also reduces pain in the body caused due to fever. It is often given to patients who suffer from cancer or have undergone surgery to help them cope up with the pain.
You should not take this medication if –
- You are allergic to this medication.
- You are suffering from a serious liver disorder.
- You normally consume more than 3 alcohol beverages per day or have a history of alcoholism.
There are several drugs that may interact with this medication. Inform your doctor about all the other medications that you take including vitamins, minerals, prescribed drugs, over the counter drugs and herbal products.
If self-administered, use exactly as directed (do not increase dose or frequency); adverse reactions can occur with overuse. Do not take longer than 3 days for fever, or 10 days for pain without consulting a medical advisor.
Take with food or milk. While using this medication, do not use alcohol, excessive amounts of vitamin C, or salicylate containing foods (curry powder, prunes, raisins, tea, or licorice), other prescription or OTC medications containing aspirin or salicylate, or other NSAIDs without consulting prescriber.

How long is the duration of effect?
The effect lasts for an average of 4-6 hours.
What is the onset of action?
The effect of Paracetamol (primary constituent of Procold Tablet) can be observed within an hour of oral administration. When given in the form of an intravenous injection, the pain-relieving action starts in 5-10 minutes. For fever reduction, the time taken is about 30 minutes.

This medication is composed of Paracetamol, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine, Ibuprofen, Zinc. Paracetamol is a pain relief medication that is administered both orally and intravenously. It selectively inhibits enzyme function in the brain which allows it to treat pain and fever. This drug activates certain receptors in the brain that inhibit pain signals. Phenylephrine is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist belonging to the phenethylamine class, which acts as a nasal decongestant. Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine, which is used to prevent the allergic symptoms from conditions such as urticaria and rhinitis. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that works by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase I and II. Zinc is a supplement that is generally used to treat depressive disorder and diarrhoea in some cases.
