About Malarial Parasite Identification Test

Malaria is an infection caused by few Plasmodium species such as P.falciparum, P.vivax, P.malariae, P.ovale, and P.knowlesi. Once plasmodium enters bloodstream it infects and destroys mainly red blood cells and liver cells. Test for malaria can be categorized into microscopic and non-microscopic tests. The microscopic test includes peripheral blood smear test, QBC test, and non-microscopic test include RDTs, immunoassay test and etc. The peripheral blood smear test is the easiest and most reliable test. Just by looking at the blood smears under a microscope you can recognize the Plasmodium species and diagnose the same. The test is also used to administer progress of treatment.
