About Steroid Profile (Thyrocare) Test

Steroid Profile (Thyrocare) aka Steroids is a test meant for newborns. Urinary steroid profiling provides a composite picture of adrenal function. Oestrogen and also aldosterone metabolites are not detected under normal circumstances. Steroid metabolism in newborns is remarkably different than in children and adults. This is because the urinary steroid profile in an infant avoids difficulties in interpreting results derived by other techniques which may be subject to interference from unusual steroids present at this time of life. So it is recommended to take this test when an infant comes to life.
