About Testosterone Free Test

A testosterone test is conducted to monitor the level of the male hormone in the blood. Testosterone is the main hormone which is responsible for sexual features and development of men. In men, it is produced in large amounts by the testicles. Testosterone is produced in both men and women; in small amounts by ovaries in women and adrenal glands in men. The pituitary gland regulates the level of testosterone in the body. When the testosterone level reduces, the pituitary gland releases a hormone called luteinizing hormone (LH). This hormone is responsible for commanding the testicles to make more testosterone.
