About Urine Albumin Test

Albumin is an important and a common type of protein found in the blood that is manufactured by the liver. The main function of the kidneys is to filter the blood where the waste products are sent out in the form of urine. However, no amount of albumin should be present in the urine when there is proper functioning of the kidneys. The Urine Albumin test is used to screen people with conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure that put them at an increased risk of developing kidney disease. This test defines if there are any rises in your albumin levels. This is evaluated by on a 24-hour basis by observing the amount of albumin lost in that period.
