AFB is Acid Fast Bacilli- which is a Mycobacterial class Bacterium. It restrains the Acid. Most common disease caused by these bacteria are Tuberculosis and Leprosy. The antibiogram Moxifloxacin test is the process to check the resistance of AFB MTB to the antibiotic Moxifloxacin.
The test is conducted in the infected tissue. Heavy coughing, Coughing with chest pain, Sputum with blood, White patches on the skin, patches are insensitive to pricking on pinching. The patches have no hairs on it are the symptoms to be checked with the AFB MTB test.
This test does not require any earlier preparations. The test mostly uses the sample of sputum (pleural fluid). The physician must educate the patient the difference between oral fluid (saliva) and Pleural fluid (sputum). A sputum sample is sent to test for consecutive 3 days. It is collected in a single day and but sent for the test for 3 consecutive days. A technician might even suggest collecting Bronchial washing (gargled water), pleural peritoneal, cerebrospinal fluid. The medium for the bacterium to grow must be set i.e. Moxifloxacin bed must be set. The physician must know the previous medication of the patient. To confirm the TB in a patient this test alone is not enough. A smear test is also necessary.
It is the best way to test the MTB to medication effective to treat it. MTB means Multidrug-resistant TB or extremely drug-resistant TB. Instead of testing the medicine directly on the patient, testing with the drug externally can help the patient from drug side effects. Even though the process is time-consuming. It is the safest method to prescribe a drug for the patient.
A clean, clear, and a sterilized container is given to the patient. Patient when coughs come out infected tissue (sputum) from the mouth. The sputum is collected in the sterilized container and closed. The technician must store the sputum in the refrigerator. The test result comes out in 6 to 8 weeks. If technician requires the Bronchial washing, Distilled water is taken in the mouth, swallow enough to reach the throat and gargle. Once done spit it in the given container. Proceed it for three times or until the technician suggests enough.
