The allergy caused in households and laboratories due to animal namely mouse is known as mouse epithelium. House rats are mainly of two types Rattus norvegicus or brown rat and Rattus Rattus or Black rat. They are most similar in their appearance and habits. Besides house rats, there are many species of wild rats too which too can cause animal allergen. Animal allergens majorly contribute to house and laboratory dust. The Rat dust which is a major allergic source contains allergens which are in Rate urine, epithelium and saliva. A lgE blood test is needed to detect the allergy caused due to these animal allergens.
The mouse epithelium allergy test is the common lgE blood test in which a small amount of blood sample is required for checking whether the patient is allergic to any species of rats. It is advised that patient should wear half sleeve shirt or easily foldable sleeves shirt on the day of test as blood sample are usually taken from the veins of the elbow. As mentioned above it is the common type of lgE blood test which requires no fasting and patient can carry on with their normal diet on the day of the test. Unless advised by the doctor, no fasting is required for the oyster allergy test.
The animal or mouse allergen can be dangerous and even cause fatal results. So it is advisable to visit a doctor in case you find the same symptoms of rat allergens. Children who are having persistent asthma should be checked for mouse sensitization or mouse allergen. The most commonly used method for the rodent allergy test is the skin prick method or lgE blood test method. The result takes up to 2 days after the blood sample has been taken into the laboratory. People aging from 2 years to 22 years are the most affected due to mouse allergens.
A small amount precisely few milliliters will be drawn out from the veins of the patient by the healthcare professional. For small children or infants blood can be drawn from puncturing the skin with the help of a needle. An antiseptic is used first to clean the skin surface. For the veins to swell up an elastic band is placed around the upper arm. A needle is inserted into the vein to draw blood and is collected in a vial or syringe. The sample is carried in the vessel to the laboratory with your name placed over the vessel.
