Allergen, Individual-Food Gluten Test

Allergen, Individual-Food Gluten Test

also known as: Allergy Gluten Enzyme Assay

A gluten energy is caused by gliadin (a glycoprotein). The two main proteins for gluten protein is Gliadin and glutenin. Gluten is found in wheat, barley and rye. Gliadin allergen is also associated with wheat allergies and is also a trigger for celiac disease. Celiac disease makes gluten intolerable. When someone with celiac disease eats gluten their immune system disturbs and cause high inflammation in the body and eventually damaging the lining of the small intestine. If you have Gluten allergy small amount of gluten could be tolerated. Various symptoms of gluten allergy include asthma, depression, weight loss, rash, lip swelling and irritability.

To find out if you have a gluten allergy, you should have allergy testing and therefore you need to go to a doctor. Before testing, you must not leave eating gluten food as this may lead to inaccurate results. Doctor conduct few tests, one is to test whether your body produces autoantibodies or not and another is bowel test. If you have a gluten allergy, then you may feel pain and difficulty while going to the toilet. Sufferer body may not produce digestive enzymes too. This enzyme is called as glutaminase i.e. essential for digesting gluten products.

During Endoscopy, an endoscope is introduced into the small intestine from the mouth. A small tissue sample is taken to see if villi have been destroyed by an allergic immune response. If so, it is an indicator of celiac along with the presence of antibodies. Endoscopes are very common as well as safe. It is also the best method to check for other health problems too including ulcers and other stomach problems. If we consider blood test this method is as easy as giving blood samples. Most gluten problems can quickly be healed with the help of gluten-free diet.

A gluten allergic person is treated by Gastro specialist and is laid into following steps to test if a patient is prone to celiac disease or not: -

  • Blood test to check for antibodies: - Doctors recommend TG Test as the most reliable blood test for celiac and usually takes 15-20 min only.
  • Undergo endoscopy or biopsy: - In this testing laboratory, technicians take a sample of tissue from walls of the small intestine. This method is considered as the most accurate method for celiac test and generally takes 30 min.
  • Get diagnosis if you found positive for celiac disease and you need to have a gluten-free diet.
