An allergen is a foreign substance that our immune system responds abnormally to when contacted. Usually, allergens are harmless but can be dangerous if the person's immune does not accept it. There are numerous allergies caused by allergens. Usually, skin and blood tests are run to confirm if an allergen has attacked the immune system. Skin tests are preferred the most as it is cheaper, easily done, and provide quick results.
-For skin tests:
- You will be ask to suspend the usage of any on going medications as it may affect the results.
- Do not apply any lotion or cream before the test.
-For blood test:
- Your eating won't affect the blood tests results so there won't be any need of suspending food.
- The tests provides you information of what allergies you have and how to deal with them.
- Even infants can be allergic, so this test provides you with vast knowledge about the allergens.
-Skin test:
- Wash your hands properly before taking up the test.
- The instructor will inform you about the process.
- The instructor will provide you a patch of some medical substance to apply over the desired area.
-Blood test:
- The instructor will collect some amount of blood.
