Allergies are misguided reaction to foreign substances by the immune system, the body system of defense against foreign invaders and pathogens (the agents of infection). Acacia tree or babul is known for its medical treatments but might have some allergic reactions to certain individuals because of the pollens present in the tree. The symptoms includes low grade fever, sneezing, stuffy or running nose, itchy nose, watery eyes, itchy skin, sore throat, poor appetite, frequent headaches, sinus pressure and facial pain. Ordinarily, such a allergic reaction is triggered within seconds or minutes after coming in contact with the pollens. There is nothing much that the person can do other than avoiding exposure to the acacia pollen or wood.

In skin prick tests if- The tests are positive if there is a wheal or a raised white bump surrounded by a small circle of itchy red skin. If no wheal appears than the person is not allergic to the tested food.
The kind of allergy is detected by skin prick test, which includes- Placing a drop of solution containing the food allergen on forearm or back. Scratching or pricking the skin to allow a tiny amount of solution to enter just below the surface. After knowing the kind of allergy the physician or allergist gives appropriate medication to reduce the symptoms like- Oral and topical antihistamines, Over-the-counter decongestants to reduce nasal congestion, Anti-inflammatory inhalers, Corticosteroids and allergy injections
