Allergy - Apple Test

Allergy Apple Test aims at determining allergy towards apple by measuring the levels of IgE antibodies or apple allergens in the blood of a person. Allergy towards apple is either due to the direct sensitization to apple fruit or else to the pollen or latex or any other foods. Apple allergy is generally observed in the people pertaining to North Europe and Mediterranean countries. Most of the people residing in North Europe develop a birch-pollen allergy, which is caused due to the similarity between apple protein and that of birch protein. People of Mediterranean countries with apple allergy, develop an allergy towards peach fruit but develop adverse reactions towards this because of similar allergens in both fruits.

Preparation for Allergy Apple Test is not required as there are no special restrictions to be followed before attending the test. It is better to notify doctor beforehand about the medical treatments or medicines or health supplements or other allergic conditions before attending for the test. So the doctor can advise about the medicines after checking the condition of a patient. It is important to avoid eating apple directly, but people with pollen hay fever can consume processed apple such as juices, candy bars, and others because allergen activity is lost. People with LTP-related apple allergy should not even consume the processed apple food.

Allergy Apple Test confirms the level of apple allergens present in the blood of a patient. It considers following conclusions after the results of the test. There is no such special quantity of antibodies level is known to trigger the apple allergic reaction. Pollen allergy generally develops only after hay fever in the patients, which occurs in the age group of 5 to 15 years and it will be lifelong. LTP allergy generally develops after puberty only and is preceded by the peach allergy, but it does not outgrow.

Allergy Apple Test is conducted by collecting a blood sample from the person who is allergic to this fruit. This sample also predicts whether people are suffering from pollen allergy or LTP related apple allergy, First, check the vein site and clean it with cotton by applying alcohol to it. Then tie the band tightly above the patch area and firmly catch the fist. The vein is searched and the needle is inserted into the vein to collect required milliliters of blood. Now collected blood is transferred into the tube and sent to test the presence of IgE antibodies in the blood.
