Many people are there in the world who are allergic to nuts. It is the tree nut and its different variants to which the people are allergic. To know if you are allergic to the tree nut or not you must go through the blood test or skin prick test. But how will you know that you need to have the test? Well, if you have a family history of nut allergy then you must go for the test without checking for symptoms. However, in cases when there are symptoms such as swelling, rashes, throat swelling, gastrointestinal issues (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), and more, then the nut allergy test will be prescribed.

There is no special preparation required before the test. You don’t need to fast one day before the test and remain on your usual diet. Allergy nut test on the blood is done to know the presence of IgE antibodies that are fighting against the different allergens present in the blood. The result is stated to be negative if there are no antibodies present in the blood. The result is reported to be positive when IgE antibodies are present in the blood. When the test result is positive then the number of IgE antibodies are counted and based on them the treatment is started. Although in the case of positive result, it is crucial that you take a proper treatment and avoid the intake of nuts.

Nut allergy test is done by using Fluorescence Assay method on a Blood sample. First of all the skin and the needle is disinfected with the help of alcohol. Then an elastic band is warped around the elbow so that the veins can be visible. Then the needle is injected into the vein, and the blood is collected into the tube attached to the needle. The tube is sealed with your name on it, and the sample is sent to the lab for the test.
