Allergy olive test is conducted on a blood sample to quantify the amount of IgE antibodies in the blood. It is done to affirm olive allergy both during and after the treatment of olive allergy. This test is also known as allergy olive fluorescence assay blood and allergy olive fluorescence assay blood. This test can be done on skin too called allergy olive enzyme assay skin.
No specific preparation is required for this test. However, keep your physician inform if you are undergoing any particular medical treatments, taking medication, have any allergies, etc. Based on your physical and medical condition, your physician will give you instructions.
This test is specifically done to determine if a person is allergic to different olive types, olive fruit, olive oil, etc.
The fluorescence assay method and enzyme assay method are done on a sample of blood. These procedures involve the spotting of allergen-specific IgE in the given blood sample. If there is an increase (more than 100 kU/l) in the level of IgE in the blood, it shows that the patient is allergic to the particular substance. The enzyme assay method is also done on a skin sample. This involves skin test by introducing a small amount of allergen into the patient’s skin. If there is a flare reaction of 3mm, it shows that the patient is allergic to the substance. These results are the same for both men and women and across all age groups
