Food allergies, are more common than you would think; it is not unheard for you to develop an allergy to a suspected allergen such as Orange or any of the other citrus fruits. If you do have a developed sensitivity to orange, then even a drop of orange juice can cause you to develop mild to severe allergic reactions. Your doctor, after reviewing your current and past medical history would recommend that you take an orange allergy test, to check for your sensitivity to the same. More often than not, he would require a small sample of your blood to process and check for your sensitivity to the allergen in question. You would not have to undergo through any advance preparation for the test or even undergo any diet restriction. Your doctor should be able to inform you regarding the results of the test within a few hours and even prescribe the right course of treatment for the same.

The Orange allergy test is used to check for your sensitivity to orange and other citrus loaded fruits. Once it is confirmed that you are indeed allergic to orange and other citrus fruits, your doctor would prescribe some anti-allergy medication and if your allergic reactions border on the extreme, then he would even prescribe epinephrine injections to help treat the same.

Your physician would require only a small amount of blood (ml) and he would prefer to collect the same from a vein in your arm. So, make sure that you wear short sleeves so as to provide the technician with easy access to your upper arm. He would then apply a tourniquet which should cause your vein to bulge out, thereby making it easier for your doctor to locate the same and draw out a small sample. The sample would be collected in a small collection container after which it will be processed to check for sensitivity to Orange. The test results should be available within a few hours, post which your doctor would prescribe an effective course of treatment.
