The white blood cells generate antibodies against toxic substance. Sometimes, white blood cells mistake latex compounds as toxic substance and releases antibodies. These Antibodies results in allergic symptoms. Papaya before the ripe stage contains latex compounds. If a person who has latex allergy take papaya in diet directly or indirectly ( through food products with papaya as an ingredient) ends up with allergic signs.
Three types of Allergic symptoms are as follows:
I) Skin Allergy: Itchiness or hands, cheeks, watery eyes, and burning in lips, tongue, and throat.
II) Gastrointestinal Signs: Signs similar to food poisonings like vomiting and diarrhea.
III) Respiratory symptoms: Wheezing, sneezing, and coughing.
If the person is allergic to latex, test the allergy with pricking the food on the skin. Another possibility to find the allergy is by drawing out the blood and testing externally. No need for fasting. The patient must inform the physician about the previous medication and also about the food caused the symptoms. If it is a store bought food material, let the physician know about it. Enough hydration is necessary. Know the condition of patient's health status.
Once the allergy is detected, The patient must be taught to be cautious about food. Not only direct intake can cause the trouble. In restaurants, trying a new dish without knowing the ingredients and store-bought cake or pie which has the direct and indirect addition of the papaya in it can cause the trouble. The symptoms might reach to the serious state called anaphylaxis, in which, the throat, tongue, and lip swells and makes the air difficult to reach the lung. An allergic patient must be aware of this problem. Not only papaya, The other food causing allergy to the person must also be tested. So that the person may avoid that food and lead the life better.
I) Skin pricking method: In this method, pick a sample of papaya on the skin. Mark the specific are. if the person is allergic to papaya, the area shows it by swelling, rashes and itching.
II) Drawing out blood: This external test helps the patient from suffering due to the symptoms of the skin. The Test is conducted externally. A blood sample is necessary. Make the patient sit comfortably. Draw out enough blood by inserting a needle into the veins. Tape the area with plaster and send the collected tube of the blood sample for testing.
