Anti A Titre Test

Anti A Titre Test

also known as: Anti A Titre ELISA

Anti A titre is antibody A titre test is to measure the level of antibody A in the blood. It is performed to confirm ABO Incompatibility and also during and after the treatment of ABO Incompatibility. This test measures the amount of antibody in a person’s blood. The amount of antibodies determines the strength of the body’s immune system. The immune system produces antibodies to kill invading microorganisms before they can cause an infection. Invading microorganisms are known as pathogens. Pathogens have markers on them known as antigens, which antibodies find and bind to.

No special preparation is needed for Anti A Titre test. Inform your doctor if you are on any medications or have any underlying medical conditions or allergies before undergoing the test. Your doctor depending on your condition will give specific instructions.

The body uses antibodies to attack and remove foreign substances. The antibody titer is also used to determine the strength of an immune response to the body's own tissue in diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other autoimmune disorders. This test can be used to determine the following: If you need a booster shot. Whether you recently had or currently have an infection. Whether your immune system has a strong response to your own tissues, possibly indicating an autoimmune disorder. Whether an immunization triggers a strong enough response against the disease it’s meant to protect you against.

A titer is a laboratory test that measures the presence and amount of antibodies in blood. A titer may be used to prove immunity to disease. A blood sample is taken and tested. If the test is positive (above a particular known value) the individual has immunity. To calculate antibody titer, a blood serum sample containing antibody is diluted in serial ratios (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16... and so on). Using an appropriate detection method (e.g., colorimetric, chromatographic, etc.), each dilution is tested for the presence of detectable levels of antibody. ELSIA is the most common method to determine antibodies in the serum.
