Nephrotic syndrome is a condition where there is loss of lot of protein in the urine. Normally if the children present at the age between 2-8 years we start them on oral steroids giving it for 3-6mths. Majority (95%) of children get better with steroids. But a significant proportion do have a recurrence of disease and can be treated with a repeat course. A small proportion who don’t respond or have frequent recurrence may require other treatment options. But in more then 85-90% the children do get well. It’s a little difficult disease but with proper guidance of nephrologist and family support the child would live a normal life.
