CA 72.4 (GI Cancer) Test

The CA72.4 GI test is performed to measure the value of CA72.4 in the blood. It is also known as GI Cancer Antigen 72-4 Monoclonal Antibody Blood, GI Cancer CA 72-4 Monoclonal Antibody Blood, GI Cancer Marker 72-4 Monoclonal Antibody Blood, GI Cancer Antigen 72-4, GI Cancer CA 72-4 and GI Cancer Marker 72-4. The blood serum is used for the test. It is used for the diagnosis of Gastrointestinal Cancer. The values given in the test should be taken seriously to major the extent of the tumor or cancer in the gastro area. In the case when you don’t have any disease yet suffering from gastro trouble, this test is recommended.

There is no fasting or special treatment is required prior to the test. It is the consultation that plays the significant role in the accuracy of the result. Thus you should be in touch with your doctor, and he must know about the different medicines that you are taking and different medical history that you have. Based on them some norms will be provided that should be followed. Moreover, on the day of the test, one should wear easily foldable full-sleeves, sleeveless or half sleeve shirts/tops for the ease of the test procedure.

As stated above, the CA72.4 test is used to measure the level of CA 72 - 4 in blood. The test is considered to be negative or normal when the value of CA72.4 lies in between 0-7 U/ml. The cancer presence may be possible if the value of CA72.4 is above 7U/ml. In such cases, the result will be positive and further diagnosis and treatments are suggested. One must not panic and follow the instruction given by the doctor for a full treatment.

CA 72 .4 is done using Monoclonal Antibody method on the blood sample. A blood sample of minimum 5mL is required for this test. At first, your skin and the needle are cleaned using alcohol. An elastic band is wrapped above the elbow so that the veins can be easily seen. The needle is injected into the skin near your elbow and blood is collected in the plain red tube attached to the needle. A serum gel tube is also acceptable or used for this test. The needle is ejected from the skin, and the blood sample with your name is sent to the laboratory for analysis.
