Cannabinoids (Quantitative) Test

Cannabinoids (Quantitative) Test

also known as: Cannabis Marijuana High performance Liquid Chromatography Blood, Cannibis High performance Liquid Chromatography Blood, Cannabinoids Marijuana, Cannibis

Cannabinoid belongs to the class of chemical compounds that influence the release of neurotransmitters in brain cells. The increased intake artificial (synthetic) cannabinoids is a major health issue, and a matter of discussion amongst the physicists worldwide. Newer compounds are emerging each day, which is making the drug testing even complex.

Cannabinoid test is generally performed using a urinalysis procedure (testing the urine sample). No specific prior preparations are required, although your doctor may recommend you an increased intake of water prior to the test, in order to collect a good urine sample. You must inform your doctor about the medications being consumed, if any, and the prior health conditions, so that the doctor can work on minimising the effects of all this on the current test results.

The cannabinoid testing is of primary importance in the sport circles, and is one of the most important dope tests. Various drug test methodologies for cannabinoid drug testing are employed in the fields of medicine, sport and law.

The testing for the consumption of cannabinoids is a simple, but time consuming procedure. On the patient’s part, you just have to provide about 30mL sample of your urine for the test. Make sure that you collect the urine sample in a clean, dry (preferably bleached or virgin) container. The lab technician will perform a gas chromatography or a mass spectrometry procedure on the sample, and the result (positive or negative for cannabinoid) will be reported in a day or two’s time. Your report will also indicate a quantitative mapping of the cannabinoids, if at all present.
