Chlamydia IgM Antobody Test

Chlamydia IgM Antobody Test

also known as: Chlamydia antibody, IgM.

Chlamydia is one of the bacterial transmitted diseases that may be caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Not only the Chlamydia trachomatis, but two other species of the Chlamydia can lead to problems like C. psittaci, C. pneumonia. When a person is suffering from the symptoms of the Chlamydia disease, the blood test is done to know the reason and also to differentiate between the different spices if more than one present in the blood. In the test, the IgM antibodies against the Chlamydia are detected. Based on the panel test (for differentiation) the doctor will suggest further treatment.

To know how to prepare for the test, you must consult with your doctor. Based on your medical history and the different medicines that you are taking the doctor will let you know the different things that you must and must not do before your test. All these instruction given by the doctor should be followed by the patient for the accurate result. Being a blood test, it is essential for the patient to wear the loose clothing so that it is easy for the doctor to take the sample. Foldable full sleeves, half sleeves, and sleeveless tops/shirts are prescribed during the test.

For detecting the IgM antibodies against the Chlamydia species, the three values are checked, i.e., trachomatis IgM, pneumoniae IgM and psittaci IgM and the test result is calculated. The test will be normal if the value of IgM antibodies for the three lies in the interval below 1.20. The test will be positive or abnormal when the values are above 1.20. In this case the doctor will suggest the further treatment. You may have irregular amount when the treatment is going on. But it will be near to the normal values if there is nothing wrong with the medication.

Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA) is used to detect the IgM antibodies in the blood serum for the Chlamydia allergy. The blood sample is collected by injected the disinfected needle in your elbow. The tube used is a plain red tube that will differentiate the serum from the blood. The collected sample is taken to the lab in the adequately sealed tube and with your name on it. The serum is separated from the blood within the two hours from the sample taken. The mode of transport is frozen sample in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
