Fungal Culture Pediatric test is a kind of blood test analysis to measure the level of Fungal growth in your blood. It is performed to confirm whether there is a fungal Infection of Blood and this test can also be helpful during and after the treatment of fungal Infection of Blood and Immunosuppressive condition. In general this test is known as Fungal Culture Pediatric. This test is ordered under following symptoms:
1.Itchy,red,scaly areas of skin
2.Nails that are thickened,brittle or deformed
3.White patches inside the mouth(thrush)
4.Vaginal itching (yeast infection)
Make sure to wear a short-sleeved shirt or a shirt with sleeves that you can easily roll up.No special preparation needed for the this test. There’s no need to adjust your diet. You can both eat and drink normally.However, your doctor may require that you fast for a specific amount of time before the test. That’s done depending on whether the blood sample will be used for additional testing. Your doctor will give you specific instructions.
In general, a negative test result means that there is no fungal infection and symptoms are due to some other causes. A negative test after a treatment for a fungal infection will indicate a successful treatment. A positive result will lead to further examination which include: 1.Microscopic examinations 2.Culture testing A positive antibody test result in a single blood sample shows an exposure to a specific fungus, but it does not show that the exposure was recent or it is from the past. Few other samples in the gap of 2-3 weeks needed to be taken in that case.
During this test, a lab technician will draw blood from a vein, generally from the inside of your elbow or A blood gas sample can also be from a vein, which is done by a small prick to the heel.

2.place an elastic band around your upper arm to help the vein swell with blood.
3.insert a needle in the your and collects the required amount of blood.
4.cover the area with a bandage to stop any bleeding.
5.label your sample and send it to a lab for analysis.
