Helicobacter Pylori IgA Test

Helicobacter Pylori IgA Test

also known as: Anti-Campylobacter Antibodies, Anti-H pylori, IgA

This test is used to find out IgA antibodies which develop in the body in response to infection with bacteria Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) bacteria. This bacteria mostly found in the stomach. It weakens the stomach's natural protective lining making it more prone to damage from gastric acid. This can lead to the formation of stomach ulcers and with time, chronic gastritis and it also increases the risk of developing stomach cancer. This test aids in the diagnosis of acute and chronic H pylori infections in patients having gastric and duodenal disease.

You don’t need to have any special preparation for this test at all. You can both eat and drink normally. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you’re on, including some specific ones, if there are any. Many medications and drugs can change the results of this particular test.Talk to your doctor in case you’re having any concerns about the need for the test, involved risks, how it will be performed, or what the results will indicate.

Circulating antibodies to H pylori maybe mostly of the IgG class. A systemic response of the IgA type is usually less effective but if found, may indicate an early infection. Antibodies to IgG are the most useful for treating helicobacter. Negative antibody tests negates current and potentially past infections. Antibody tests should not be performed after the treatment of H. pylori. Stool antigen and urea breath tests should be performed for further investigations.

This test requires taking a sample of your blood.Doctor will cleanse your arm with an antiseptic. To create pressure and cause your veins to swell with blood, a band, will be applied around your arm. A needle will be inserted in one of your veins to draw a small sample of blood(few ml). An appropriate amount of blood will be collected. After that the needle will be removed and a small bandage will be placed on your arm where the needle was inserted. You’ll be recommended to maintain some pressure at the site where the needle was placed for a few minutes, as it reduces blood flow.

You are having a condition called as reflux oesophagits. Meaning the acid secreted in the stomach is passing in the reverse direction in to the food pipe, so the above feeling. So the doctor must have given you medicines for reduction of the quantity of acid secreted in your stomach. But you need to see the acid to pass down in to the intestines rather than in the reverse direction. To achieve that you need to have some life style changes. They are give a gap of atleast 2 hours between your dinner and sleep. Slightly raise the head end of your bed. You need to have regular physical exercise like pranayama including kapalabati/yoga or atleast simple walking for 1 hour in the morning. Take atleast 3 litres of water in the day. Include plenty of leafy vegetables/ salad of raw vegetables with each meal. Avoid junk food/outside food. If you are constipated then get treated for the same. If you can come back with your endoscopy report and whether you are tested for H.Pylori along with it. We will be able to give further advise. Good luck.

Prurigo Nodularis commonly affects the middle aged. Many patients have had allergic conditions like asthma, hay fever or eczema, or have someone in the family who has these allergic traits. It has been seen that Prurigo Nodularis is associated with certain diseases like the virus that affects the liver – Hepatitis C, the stomach bug – H. Pylori, the notorious HIV, protein intolerance (called gluten enteropathy) and kidney failure. Though Prurigo Nodularis is a difficult disease to treat, homoeopathic treatment has shown good results. Homoeopathic medicines act at a much deeper level than just the skin. Also, homoeopathic remedies come without the side effects of UV therapy, steroid applications and other modern medicine options. Provided a patient is prepared to put in a little patience, Homoeopathic treatment for Prurigo Nodularis is strongly indicated. Hot and spicy foods can numb your senses, quite literally! In every nook and corner, you will find people salivating over hot and spicy foods. For long, people were of the belief that such foods only harm your system, inviting unwanted health complications and disorders. Most parents try their best to keep their children away from such foods. But every cloud has a silver lining. Hot and spicy foods are not only about the cons.

Unfortunately, not many people are aware of the health benefits of hot and spicy foods. This article is an attempt to aware the readers of both the pros and cons of hot and spicy foods.
Health benefits associated with hot and spicy foods:

Hot and spicy foods, when consumed in moderation can work wonders for your system. Chillies, peppers, spices, the main ingredients which spice up a dish have many health benefits.

  1. Endorphins are your feel-good hormones. Together with serotonin, the hormones help to keep stress, anxiety, and depression at bay. They are great mood enhancers. Chilli peppers tend to elevate the levels of both these hormones in the body, helping you to fight stress better. Capsaicin, an important active component of chilli peppers has many advantages.
    • It plays a pivotal role in lowering the flu symptoms.
    • It has anti-carcinogenic properties.
    • It comes as a relief for people suffering from stomach ulcers. Capsaicin effectively gets rid of the bacteria H.pylori, which causes stomach ulcer (in most cases).
    • It also helps in lowering and maintaining the blood cholesterol level.
    • If you have been struggling to lose weight, then capsaicin is what the doctors have just advised. It acts as a catalyst, accelerating the metabolism, thus enabling the body in rapid burning down of calories.
  2. In general, having spices in your diet elevates the HCl secretion in the stomach, thereby improving the overall digestion process.
  3. Research suggest spicy foods can bring about a remarkable improvement in the circulation process.
  4. Spicy foods may be a blessing for your heart. As per research, spicy foods go a long way in lowering the cases of strokes or heart attacks.

An excess of anything is bad. With merits come the demerits.

  1. Heartburn is common in people who eat very hot and spicy foods.
  2. Very spicy foods can cause stomach problems, including a stomach upset, stomach pain, and in extreme cases, even diarrhea.
  3. If you are a night owl by force (sleep does not come easily to you), spicy foods will only worsen the situation. Having hot and spicy foods for dinner, or just before retiring to bed is sure to doom your sleep.
  4. Extremely spicy foods can cause inflammation of the lining of the stomach, resulting in Gastritis.
  5. People who love eating very spicy foods are more likely to suffer from acid reflux problems. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

11 Health Benefits Of Sex!

11 Health Benefits Of Sex!

The top 11 health benefits of sex:

Regular sex cannot be underestimated as a factor for reducing stress, bolstering self-esteem and fostering feelings of intimacy and bonding between partners.

But the real point of this article is the fact that a healthy sex life can provide for a longer, healthier and, most would agree, more enjoyable life. Among the many health benefits of sex are:

1. Improves immunity

People who have sex frequently (one or two times a week) have significantly higher levels of immunoglobulin a (iga. 1your iga immune system is your body's first line of defense.

Its job is to fight off invading organisms at their entry points, reducing or even eliminating the need for activation of your body's immune system. This may explain why people who have sex frequently also take fewer sick days. 2

2. Heart health

Men who made love regularly (at least twice a week) were 45 percent less likely to develop heart disease than those who did so once a month or less, according to one study. 3

Sexual activity not only provides many of the same benefits to your heart as exercise but also keeps levels of estrogen and testosterone in balance, which is important for heart health.

3. Lower blood pressure

Sexual activity, and specifically intercourse, is linked to better stress response and lower blood pressure. 4

4. It's a form of exercise

Sex helps to boost your heart rate, burn calories and strengthen muscles, just like exercise. In fact, research recently revealed that sex burns about 4 calories a minute for men and 3 for women, making it (at times) a'significant' form of exercise. It can even help you to maintain your flexibility and balance.

5. Pain relief

Sexual activity releases pain-reducing hormones and has been found to help reduce or block back and leg pain, as well as pain from menstrual cramps, arthritis and headaches. One study even found that sexual activity can lead to partial or complete relief of headache in some migraine and cluster-headache patients. 6

6. May help reduce risk of prostate cancer

Research has shown that men who ejaculate at least 21 times a month (during sex or masturbation) have a lower risk of prostate cancer. This link needs to be explored further, however, as there may have been additional factors involved in the association.

7. Improve sleep

After sex, the relaxation-inducing hormone prolactin is released, which may help you to nod off more quickly. The" love hormone" oxytocin, released during orgasm, also promotes sleep.

8. Stress relief

Sex triggers your body to release its natural feel-good chemicals, helping to ease stress and boost pleasure, calm and self-esteem. Research also shows that those who have sexual intercourse responded better when subjected to stressful situations like speaking in public. 8

9. Boost your libido

The more often you have sex, the more likely you are to want to keep doing it. There's a mental connection there but also a physical one, particularly for women. More frequent sex helps to increase vaginal lubrication, blood flow and elasticity, which in turn make sexual activity more enjoyable.

10. Improves bladder control in women

Intercourse helps to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, which contract during orgasm. This can help women to improve their bladder control and avoid incontinence. You can boost this benefit even more by practicing kegel exercises during sex (a kegel squeeze is performed by drawing your lower pelvic muscles up and holding them up high and tight, as if you're trying to stop a flow of urine).

11. Increase intimacy and improve your relationship

Sex and orgasms result in increased levels of the hormone oxytocin -- the" love" hormone -- that helps you feel bonded to your partner, and better experience empathic connections.

Peptic ulcer disease is a form of disease in which painful sores or ulcers are developed in the lining of the stomach or in the duodenum, which is the first part of the small intestine. Complications include severe blood loss and perforation of the stomach and intestines.

What can cause peptic ulcers?
Ulcers occur due to the imbalance of digestive fluids in the stomach or duodenum. Usually, ulcers are caused by the infection due to bacteria known as Helicobater pylori.
Here are the factors which may lead to peptic ulcer:

  1. One can use painkillers, which are known as nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs, by the likes of aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen and several others.
  2. These kinds of ulcers may also occur due to excessive production of acid from gastrinomas.
  3. Excessive alcohol consumption may also cause peptic ulcer.
  4. Smoking cigarettes and chewing tobacco may cause such ulcers.
  5. Sometimes serious illness may cause peptic ulcer as well.
  6. Radiation treatment of the affected area may also lead to peptic ulcer.

What are its signs and symptoms?

  5. In severe cases of peptic ulcer, dark or black stool is produced because of bleeding.
  6. The patient may vomit blood.
  7. Weight loss and abdominal pain are indicated, especially in the upper to mid abdomen region.
  8. Indigestion and change in appetite are also noticed.
  9. There is pain in the chest.

1. Lifestyle changes: Elimination of substances which lead to peptic ulcer should be avoided. Smoking and drinking should be restricted. Certain NSAIDS may lead to ulcer, and they should be stopped.
2. Medication: Proton pump inhibitors help in reducing acid levels, which allow healing of the ulcer. Different types of PPI are esomeprazole, dexlansoprazole, omeprazole, pantoprazole and iansoprazole.

Several antibiotics may also be used when a patient has helicobacter pylori infection. Several combinations of antibiotics may be used for the treatment. Bismuth may be used as well.
Upper endoscopy can be done as a part treatment of ulcer to cure bleeding ulcers. In case the ulcer creates a hole in the stomach’s wall, surgery is required. Peptic ulcer is a serious health condition and if not treated properly, it can cause several health hazards. There are several treatment options for peptic ulcer, and you should opt for the one that suits you the best.
