Histopathology – Core is a test where a tissue is examined under a microscope to study the manifestations of the disease. It is performed to confirm the Malignancy during and after the treatment. Histopathology is done after a surgery or biopsy, which helps in retrieving a sample from the patient. The sample is processed and fixated or frozen on glass slides for the pathologist to examine it. The Biopsy performed for this process is Trucut Biopsy, which provides the pathologist with a core of undamaged tissue from the Tumor/ Leison. The Biopsy is done with a specifically prepared needle, which is called as ‘Trucut Needle’.
No special preparation is needed for Trucut biopsy. Inform your doctor if you are on any medications or have any underlying medical conditions or allergies before undergoing Trucut biopsy. Your doctor depending on your condition will give specific instructions.
This test is used to assess the malignancy of tissues before and after
treatment.
This test is used to know about Tumor cell and its proliferation in the
patient’s tissue.
Various types of cancer like Breast, Throat, Bladder, Kidney, Lung,
Ovary, Prostate.
The patient is positioned in such a way that the area of the tumor is easily
accessible.
Enough clothing will be removed off the patient to make the area more
accessible.
The Technician will be injecting the patient with a local anesthesia in the
region of Tumor.
After injecting the patient with anesthesia, a small incision of around
6mm is made using a scalpel.
Through the incision the Trucut needle of 4mm is slowly inserted inside.
The sample is collected from the incision slowly and retrieved for the
pathologist to examine it.
The sample is processed and fixated using a chemical fixer or frozen and
then it is examined by the pathologist.
