IHC, FSH Questions

How would a diagnosis of both a benign pituitary tumor (microadenoma) and arrhythmia generally affect life expectancy and general health in the future for a 25 year old female? Of course this will depend very much on the specifics of each case, but should you in the average case expect to be able to live a full normal life? My understanding is that both conditions generally can be treated quite well separately, but is this no longer the case when being diagnosed with both simultaneously?

Almost all pituitary tumors are benign (not cancer) glandular tumors called pituitary adenomas. These tumors are called benign because they don't spread to other parts of the body, like cancers can. Pituitary cancers (called pituitary carcinomas) are very rare. But we have to look into the details of the problem. Let's have a detailed discussion to Ensure proper treatment.

My question is if I use medicine and get my prolactin levels to normal will my tumour in my pituitary gland disappear if prolactin level gets balanced?

Prolactin levels are increased because there is a tumor... Tumor is not because of prolactin. So taking medicine for prolactin is never going to help. Better take homoeopathic treatment to cure tumor and prolactin levels will come back normal on its own.

My mother has been suffering from pituitary gland disorder. Doc prescribed hisone 10 mg in morning and hisone 5 mg in evening. She has been taking these medicine from last 7 months. Everything seems fine except her slight weight gain. Does these medicines have side effects. Doc said she has to take these medicine forever.

Weight gain is one of the side effects of Hisone. But if the drug is given for her pituitary condition, then she has to take till her physician tapers and stops it But she can control and modify her diet to minimise the effect.

Cause of DI is under active posterior pituitary gland and low ADH hormone. With small pituitary gland, tests should be done to find out levels of other pituitary hormones and replacement therapy for low hormones.

Hi, pituitary is the "master control gland" - it makes hormones that affect growth and the functions of other glands in the body. With pituitary disorders, you often have too much or too little of one of your hormones. Which might be to root cause to all these problems are facing. But before anything we need to pin point the problem with hormonal study. So go for these tests and consult a nearby endocrinologist.
