Mammogram Test

Cancer whose development takes place from the tissue of breast of women is termed as breast cancer. The symptoms of breast cancer include a change in breast shape, a lump in the breast, fluid coming from the nipple, the red scaly patch of skin or dimpling of the skin. If this disease spread to final stage then it causes swollen lymph nodes, yellow skin, bone pain or shortness of breath. If we want to determine the early signs of breast cancer then the test which is considered to be best is mammogram. Breast’s X-ray pictures are included in the mammogram.

Following are the preparations of the test.
• We should not go through mammogram during the week or a week before menstruation. This is
because at this time there is the probability of the breast to be tender.
• If we go through mammogram previously then, we should bring prior images of the
mammogram.
• We should not use powders, antiperspirants, creams, perfumes or lotion on our breasts or under
our arms.
• If we are uncomfortable with mammogram then, before an hour of the test, over-the- counter
pain medication like acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin should be considered.

Mammogram proves to be beneficial for us in many ways. The benefits of Mammogram are as follows. • The treatment of breast cancer will be successful if it is predicted at an early stage by this test. • It is helpful in saving our life. • This test is reliable and provides accurate results.

In this test, in front of the special X-ray machine, we have to stand. On the clear plastic plate, our breast is allowed to be placed. From above, our breast is pressed by another plate. X-ray is taken by making the breast flattened by plates. Some pressure will be felt. Same steps will be followed for making the side view of the breast. The X-ray of the other breast has to be taken in the same way.
