Yes. The Pap smear is indicative of infection for which antibiotic has been prescribed. Better get a repeat one after 6 months to confirm it is resolved.

My parents (both above 60 years and my mother has cervical cancer) got covishield 2nd dose on april, 2021. Now they're getting messages for the precautionary dose on or after the end of january, 2022. But in the starting of january 2022 we all had covid-like symptoms. Though not being tested we practiced isolation for a week. Will they be eligible for getting the booster dose in this month?

My mother diagnosed with cervical cancer stage 2b. In 14 feb 2020 her treatment started following 25 rays with 4 chemotherapy. After that doctor prescribed 4 session of brachytherapy. But due to lighten she received her treatment after 2 months later on 22 june 2020. After completion of treatment she goes to check up every 3 months 2 mri reports have been done 3 months apart one without contrast & one with contrast. every time she had to go gynecology dept for her pv, ps & pr check up. But last time on apr 20, 2021 in her gynecology report says her parametrium involved but other findings were normal no growth found anywhere. Then doctor prescribed her a whole body pet ct with 18 fdg after 2 months. She is normal and no other symptoms were present. Do you think her cancer is coming back? And do you think she is can be cured from this cancer?

Even in stage IIa, radical hysterectomy removal of the whole uterus, both ovaries ,pelvic lymph node dissection are done. Medial 1/3 of the parametrium on either side, and upper 1/3 of the vagina is also removed. Brachy- therapy followed by external radiotherapy after 5-6 weeks. If the parametrium shows involvement, it is stage IIb .After full surgical treatment and radiotherapy, parametrial invasion is to be evaluated by the Gynecologist. Further treatment if contemplated, is to be planned by the radiotherapist.

Sir my mother is a cervical cancer survivor diagnosed in august 2018 and her age is 46 plus now. My question is should she get vaccinated or not? In our state that is assam where only people belonged to the age group of upto 44 years are being vaccinated. What will be your suggestion regarding her vaccination.

People with cancer (or with a history of cancer) can get some vaccines, but this depends on many factors, such as the type of vaccine, the type of cancer a person has (had), if they are still being treated for cancer, and if their immune system is working properly. Because of this, it’s best to talk with your cancer doctor before getting any type of vaccine.

Dear lybrate-user ji I must appreciate your love and concern for your girlfriend. As you might already know that stage iiib, (1) cancer has spread to the pelvic wall; and/or (2) the tumor has become large enough to block one or both ureters (tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder) or has caused one or both kidneys to get bigger or stop working. Since she already had surgery there is a 60% chances of living for another 5 years with radiation or chemo. The reason for her vomiting and pain might be side effects of the treatment given. You have to be strong and be supportive to her. You both are going through and emotional and physical turmoil. May the almighty give you both strength to go through this tough time. With prayers for good health

My pap smear shows severe inflamed severe. Can anyone help me out to understand the seriousness of the problem?

Inflammation on a Pap smear can be found in a patient of any age and may be attributable to a benign infection — such as Candida vaginitis — that need be treated only if the patient is symptomatic. Sexually transmitted infections can also cause an inflammatory reaction on the cervix and should be treated accordingly. Lets discuss your concern in detail so that we can provide you with the best medication plan.
