The genus Yersinia fits into the family of the Enterobacteriaceae. Along with the human pathogens Y. enterocolitica, Y. pestis and Y. pseudotuberculosis, it comprises other non-pathogenic species. Yersiniae takes place globally in temperate and subtropical climates. The most significant bacterial reservoirs for Y. enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis, the causes of enteric yersiniosis, are latent infections in the warm-blooded wild, working and domestic animals especially in domestic pigs, whose excreta lead to infectivity of the environment. Diffusion to humans is mainly alimentary. Y. enterocolitica infections are evident after an incubation period of approximately 14 days mainly as mesenteric lymphadenitis, which presents clinically as enteritis, pseudo appendicitis, ileitis or colitis.
15 µl serum or plasma is required as the patient sample. For CSF/serum processing, use the part individually calculated CSF / serum dilution for each IgG class. Blood samples should be taken individually by venous puncture. The serum is alienated after complete coagulation. If the storage is for a longer time than sera have to be frozen at -20°C. 3. Again and again, freezing and thawing should not be done. Sera that are heat-inactivated, lipemic, hemolytic or microbiologically infected, may give faulty results, so they should not be used. Turbid samples should not be used. (especially after thawing), centrifuge if essential (5 minutes at 1000 x g), pipette clear supernatant and use for testing.
Analytical Sensitivity- Analytical sensitivity can be determined by testing clinically characterized sera in Yersinia enterocolitica LINE and in a recombinant Yop D ELISA as a suggestion. Analytical Specificity and Prevalence- Analytical specificity can be calculated by testing blood donor sera in Yersinia enterocolitica LINE.
The procedure of this test requires the usage of special tray and apparatus which is there. Keep in mind to conduct the test at room temperature. During the whole test take care that the strip on which the test is conducted does not dry. After conducting the test pour away the liquid and do it carefully. This is important as for doing the test again you need to take proper care of the strip.
