Alkem Manitol Infusion is used to reduce swelling in the body due to excessive water retention. It is used in cases of kidney failure, to reduce the mass of the brain, to reduce intraocular pressure if no other means are available, and to promote the excretion of toxic substances present in the body through urine secretion.

It is also prescribed to reduce of increased intraocular pressure; promoting urinary excretion of toxic substances; genitourinary irrigant in transurethral prostatic resection or other transurethral surgical procedures.

The dose of Alkem Manitol Infusion is regulated according to the nature and severity of the condition of the individual being treated, his or her fluid requirements and urinary output.

Contraindications include kidney failure, lung congestion, swelling of lungs, severe dehydration, bleeding in the brain, progressive renal dysfunction and progressive heart failure.
