About Arkapres 150Mcg Tablet

Arkapres 150Mcg Tablet is used in the treatment of hypertension. It effectively brings down blood pressure by reducing levels of certain body chemicals. This in turn relaxes the blood vessels, allowing the heart to beat properly.

Before starting the medication, inform the doctor of any health problems that you are currently suffering from. Patients with heart and kidney problems, low blood pressure and tumour of the adrenal gland should take Arkapres 150Mcg Tablet only after their doctor’s approval. Provide him with a list of medicines you are taking as well.

Arkapres 150Mcg Tablet is prescribed twice a day, one dose has to be taken during the day and the other at night. The tablet form of the drug can consumed with food or without. Transdermal patches of the drug are also available. In this case just place the patch on your skin and the drug will be absorbed by the body.

The drug should be stops gradually, suddenly discountinuing the drug can result in severe complications.

Common side effects of Arkapres 150Mcg Tablet are fatigue, lethargy, drowsiness, hypotension, headache, pain in the abdomen and dizziness.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication behaves as an alpha2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It possesses central hypotensive and anti arrhythmogenic effects. Primarily, it works by stimulating the receptors present in the brain stem. Here it shows sympatholytic effect, thus inhibits the noradrenaline, ATP, renin and neuropeptide Y release. This leads to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance, causing a lowering of blood pressure. For producing secondary effects, it acts as an imidazoline-1 receptor in the brain.
