This is a combination medication which has Fenofibrate and Rosuvastatin as active ingredients. It is a very beneficial medicine. It can help to reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol and fats such as LDL and triglycerides. An accumulation of such fats can cause the thickening of arteries known as atherosclerosis.

It helps to increase the number of enzymes in the body that help to break down excess fats that have been deposited over time. You shouldn’t take this medication if you suffer from liver, gall bladder or kidney disease.

This medication is a class of drug known as a fibrate. It is mainly used for treating cholesterol level for people at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. It works by stimulating lipoprotein lipase and decreasing the formation of apoprotein C-III which in turn leads to a reduction in low-density cholesterol and very low-density cholesterol, triglyceride levels and an increase in high-density lipoprotein. Rosuvastatin is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor for cholesterol.
