    How does this medication work?

This medication is an expectorant which reduces adhesiveness and surface tension of congealed mucus in the upper respiratory tract to increase the flow of mucus, stimulating and increasing efficiency of the cilia to remove the accumulated mucus. It also causes pharmacological effects. This is assigned to stimulation via beta-adrenergic receptors of the intracellular adenylyl cyclase. The intracellular adenyl cyclase enzyme causes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate into adenosine monophosphate. Bromhexine is a synthetic secretolytic agent which help the natural mechanisms to clear respiratory tract mucus. It increases serious mucus production in the respiratory tract and reduces phlegm viscosity, which helps the cilia to clear mucus from the respiratory tract.
