About Buscogast 10Mg Tablet

Buscogast 10Mg Tablet is primarily prescirbed to patients having pain issues due to spasm in smooth muscles. It effectively alleviates the pain and associated symptoms related to spasm, stiffness and pain in smooth muscles.

Buscogast 10Mg Tablet is an effective drug administered for the treatment of excessive nausea, vomiting and especially for patients suffering from motion sickness and may be used to reduce the production of saliva especially after some major surgery.

The drug can also help to relieve seasickness, abdominal inflammation or spasms, renal spasms, eye inflammation and irritable bowel syndrome. It remains for around 9 – 10 hours in the body and works as a muscarinic antagonist.

Buscogast 10Mg Tablet blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine by binding with muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, which in turn prevents nervous impulses to the parasympathetic nervous system especially to the vomiting center in the brain.

Side effects from the usage of the drug include and is not restricted to dry mouth, arrhythmia, reduced bronchial secretions, excessive thirst, increased heart rate, dry skin, palpitations, photophobia. It is contraindicated in the case of overactive thyroid glands, Myasthenia Gravis, closed angle glaucoma, high blood pressure, coronary artery diseases, Sinus Tachycardia, etc.

Additionally, it has also been reported to cause complication in pregnancy and interact with drugs like aceprometazine, benzatropine, etc. Hence, it is recommended to consult with a qualified physician with your medical history regarding the usage of Buscogast 10Mg Tablet .

Symptoms of Buscogast 10Mg Tablet overdose include dilated pupils, flushed skin, tachycardia, hypertension, EKG abnormalities, CNS manifestations resemble acute psychosis; CNS depression, circulatory collapse, respiratory failure, and death can occur.

Pure scopolamine intoxication is extremely rare. However, for a scopolamine overdose with severe life-threatening symptoms, physostigmine 1-2 mg (0.5 mg or 0.02 mg/kg for children) S.C. or I.V. slowly should be given to reverse the toxic effects.

    Buscogast 10Mg Tablet is a muscarinic acetylcholinergic which competitively blocks acetylcholine receptors. It is believed to stop communication between the vestibular nerves and the vomiting center of brain, as well as block the vomiting center directly to prevent motion sickness.

        • Decreased effect of acetaminophen, levodopa, ketoconazole, digoxin, riboflavin, potassium chloride in wax matrix preparations.
        • Increased toxicity: Additive adverse effects with other anticholinergic agents; GI absorption of the following drugs may be affected: acetaminophen, levodopa, ketoconazole, digoxin, riboflavin, potassium chloride wax-matrix preparations.

        Use with caution with hepatic or renal impairment since adverse CNS effects occur more often in these patients; use with caution in infants and children since they may be more susceptible to adverse effects of scopolamine; use with caution in patients with GI obstruction; anticholinergic agents are not well tolerated in the elderly and their use should be avoided when possible.
