About Carezim 6.25mg Tablet

Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is an alpha and a beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. After a heart attack, it is used to improve your chance of survival if your heart does not pump well. It also helps in preventing kidney problems, strokes and heart attacks. Carezim 6.25mg Tablet blocks the beta receptors in the heart muscle, making them less responsive to stress hormones. It also blocks alpha receptors on blood vessels which dilates them, lowering blood pressure and vascular resistance.

This medicine is not recommended for children and for diabetic patients, a serious heart condition, liver, kidney or lung disease. You should not take Carezim 6.25mg Tablet if you are allergic to it or if you have a history of other allergies. To make sure this medicine is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have a thyroid disorder, pheochromocytoma or circulation problems. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant or breastfeeding a baby before starting a course of this medicine.

Carezim 6.25mg Tablet should be taken orally, with food, usually twice daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose.

Dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, impotence, diarrhoea, or tiredness may occur as side effects of this medicine. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any serious side effects, including slow heartbeat, fainting, severe dizziness, signs of kidney problems, unusual weakness, numbness of hands and feet, mood changes or seizures. Even though a very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare, ask for medical support if you notice any symptoms of a severe allergy.

    • Hypertension

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is used in the treatment of Hypertension which is an increase in the blood pressure caused by genetic and/or environmental factors.

    • Congestive Heart Failure (Chf)

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is used in the treatment of congestive heart failure which is a type of heart disease, charecterized by thickening of the walls of the left ventricle.

    • Left Ventricular Dysfunction

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is used in the treatment of left ventricular dysfunction, which is a type of heart disease that lowers the pumping capacity of the heart.

      Not recommended in the patients with known allergy to Carezim 6.25mg Tablet or other beta blockers.

    • Lung Disease

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is not recommended in the patients with known history of lung diseases like asthma, bronchospasm and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

    • Heart Block Greater Than First Degree

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with 2nd or 3rd degree AV block.

    • Sinus Bradycardia

      Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is not recommended in the patients with bradycardia.

        Alcohol

        Consumption of alcohol with this medicine may lower the blood pressure and may cause symptoms like dizziness, headache, change in pulse or heart rate. The patient should be counseled about these effects and advised not to perform activities that require mental alertness like driving or operating machinery.

        Corticosteroids

        Corticosteroids like prednisolone, methylprednisolone may decrease the effect of Carezim 6.25mg Tablet if taken more than a week. Close monitoring of blood pressure is necessary. Any symptoms of swelling of feet and hands, rapid weight gain should be reported to the doctor. Dose adjustments are to be made if necessary.

        Antidiabetic medicines

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet may mask the symptoms of low blood glucose levels like tremors, fast heartbeat, palpitations and makes it difficult for the patients to understand. Inform your doctor if you are a diabetic patient your doctor may prescribe an alternate medicine. Close monitoring of blood glucose is necessary.

        Verapamil

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet should be used with caution.

        Beta-2 adrenergic bronchodilators

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet is not recommended with the bronchodilators like salbutamol, formoterol due to the opposite action. Inform the doctor if you have any lung disease and receiving inhalers. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Asthma

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet should not be used in patients suffering from bronchial asthma or any other lung diseases. Inform the doctor if you had any history of lung diseases or family history of lung disease. Dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Bradyarrhythmia/Av Block

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet or other beta blockers are not recommended in the patients with Sinus Bradyarrhythmia or heart block greater than the first degree. Inform the doctor if you have any heart diseases or family history of heart diseases. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Glaucoma

        Carezim 6.25mg Tablet should be administered with caution in a patient suffering from Glaucoma. It may further lower the pressure in the eye.
