About Chericof SF Syrup

Chericof syrup is a combination medication containing Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine and Dextromethorphan. It is used to get relief from dry cough, stuffy nose, sinus, and ear symptoms caused by the allergies, common cold, flu or other breathing illnesses such as sinusitis and bronchitis. This medication works by decreasing swelling in the nose and ears which makes breathing easier and lessens any discomfort.

To ensure complete safety, before starting the syrup tell your doctor if you suffered from blood vessel problems, diabetes, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, mood disorders, glaucoma, heart disease, seizure disorder, difficulty sleeping or trouble urinating. This medication is recommended for use in younger children.

The dosage is based on your age. Without your doctor’s approval, do not increase your dose or frequency of this medication. Improper use of this syrup can cause you serious harm.

    How does this medication work?

    Chericof works as a decongestant by suppressing the nervous system and the part of your brain which is responsible for coughing. It does not really thin the mucus, but certainly provides relief. It also work as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist belonging to the phenethylamine class, which acts as a nasal decongestant. It works by narrowing the swelling of blood vessels in the ear and nose, thereby providing great relief from discomfort. It is also used to prevent the allergic symptoms from conditions such as urticaria and rhinitis. This drug binds to the histamine H1 receptor, which prevents the action from endogenous histamine.
