Cheston cold is a multi-drug composition, thus works via multiple mechanism. Firstly, it works as an agent that causes diffusion of thick mucus. Uncontrolled quantity of nitric oxide (NO) is related to inflammation and other kinds of disruptions of the functioning of the airways. This medication inhibits the activation of guanylate cyclase which is nitric oxide dependent. Secondly, it acts as a nasal decongestant. It works by narrowing the swelling of blood vessels in the ear and nose, thereby providing great relief from discomfort. Thirdly, it selectively inhibits enzyme function in the brain which allows it to treat pain and fever. It activates certain receptors in the brain that inhibit pain signals. And lastly, it selectively inhibits the peripheral H1 receptors thereby reducing the histamine levels in the body.
