Clav Den Dry Syrup

As a penicillin antibiotic, Clav Den Dry Syrup treats bacterial infections. It interferes with the synthesis of cell wall in a bacteria and stops it from growing. It is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract. It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and gonorrhoea. Clav Den Dry Syrup when used with an antibiotic clarithromycin, it treats stomach ulcers.

You should not use amoxicillin if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic. Amoxicillin can make birth control pills less effective so ask your doctor about using non hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby as it may cause harm to the baby. To make sure amoxicillin is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have asthma, liver or kidney disease, mononucleosis, a history of diarrhoea caused by taking antibiotics; or food or drug allergies.

Other drugs may interact with amoxicillin, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.

Common side effects may include stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, vaginal itching or discharge or swollen or black tongue. Call your doctor at once if you have the following after using this medicine:

• diarrhoea, fever, cold or flu symptoms, cough, troubled breathing.
• swollen glands, severe skin irritation and rashes or joint pain.
• jaundice, confusion or weakness, dark coloured urine.
• numbness, severe tingling, pain or muscle weakness.
• easy bruising or unusual bleeding of nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum.

Take Clav Den Dry Syrup exactly as prescribed by your doctor. They are available in liquid form, as chewable tablets and as extended-release tablets. Some forms of this medicine may be taken with or without food. Dosage is as per doctor’s prescription and it varies according to age, medical condition and how severe the condition is.

• Ear Infection (Otitis Media)

  Clav Den Dry Syrup treats infections in the middle ear caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

• Nose Bleed

  This syrup is used in the treatment of infections in the nose and nasal chamber caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

• Throat Infection

  Clav Den Dry Syrup helps in the treatment of infections in the throat and airways leading to lungs namely Tonsillitis and Pharyngitis caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

• Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

  Clav Den Dry Syrup treats infections in the airways leading to the lungs. The infection can be Pneumonia, acute bronchitis or others caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

• Skin Infection

  Clav Den Dry Syrup treats infections of skin and skin structure caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

• Urinary Tract Infection

  Clav Den Dry Syrup cures infections of urinary tube, bladder (Cystitis) and kidneys (Pyelonephritis).

• Gonorrhea And Associated Infections

  Clav Den Dry Syrup helps in treating Gonorrhea and associated infections in the urinary tube and the region around the reproductive organs in both male and female.

• Typhoid Fever

  Clav Den Dry Syrup treats typhoid and paratyphoid fever.

• Stomach Ulcers

  It cures stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. It is normally used in combination with other medicines.

• Dental Abscess

  Clav Den Dry Syrup treats infection of gums that result in formation of pus around the roots of the tooth.

• Endocarditis

  Clav Den Dry Syrup is used in the prevention of a condition where the inner walls of the heart gets swollen.

• Allergy

  Clav Den Dry Syrup is not recommended if a patient is highly allergic to amoxicillin or other antibiotics of Penicillins and Cephalosporins groups.

• How long is the duration of effect?

  The effect of Clav Den Dry Syrup lasts for an average of 1.5 to 2 hours after onset of action.

• What is the onset of action?

  The effect of this medication can be observed within 1-2 hours of administration.

• Are there any pregnancy warnings?

  Clav Den Dry Syrup is not known to cause any harm to the fetus. But the evidence is inadequate and it should be used only when necessary after consulting a doctor.

• Is it habit forming?

  No habit forming tendencies have been reported.

• Are there any breast-feeding warnings?

  It is safe to use during breastfeeding. Any incidence of rashes on skin or diarrhea in the infant should be reported. It is advised to consult a doctor before taking this medicine.

• Interaction with Alcohol

• Interaction with Lab Test

  Urine Sugar Test

  Usage of Clav Den Dry Syrup should be reported prior to performing the test. The urine sugar test should be performed with different reagents in such cases.

• Interaction with Medicine

  Doxycycline

  Usage of Clav Den Dry Syrup with Doxycycline should be avoided and usage of other antibiotics should be reported to the doctor.

  Methotrexate

  Usage of Clav Den Dry Syrup with Methotrexate or other chemotherapy medicines should be reported to the doctor. The levels of Methotrexate in the body along with symptoms of toxicity should be closely monitored while both these medicines are taken.

  Warfarin

  Usage of Clav Den Dry Syrup with Warfarin should be reported to the doctor. The clotting time should be monitored promptly. Symptoms like increased bleeding, swelling, dizziness and weakness should be reported immediately.

  Ethinyl Estradiol

  Usage of Clav Den Dry Syrup with Ethinyl Estradiol decreases the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills, which might result in unplanned pregnancies.

• Interaction with Disease

  Mononucleosis

  The condition should be reported to the doctor before taking Clav Den Dry Syrup so that proper substitute can be prescribed.

  Colitis

  Clav Den Dry Syrup should be discontinued if severe diarrhea occurs. Patients having a history of Colitis should be monitored closely.

  Renal Diseases

  Clav Den Dry Syrup should be given after making adjustments in the dosage. The kidney function should be periodically monitored especially if the dosage is for a longer period of time. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made if a patient is on hemodialysis.
