About Crevast 10 MG Tablet

Crevast is a drug which is used to lower the cholesterol and triglycerides levels in the body. It also helps in treating cardiovascular diseases. This medication belongs to a group of drugs known as 'statins'. It is helpful in reducing the need for medical procedures to open blocked vessels. This drug reduces the blood cholesterol level thus lowering the risk of narrowing of arteries.

It must be used as directed by the doctor. For best results, It is also important to take a regular dose of this medication. However, if you have missed a dose, don’t try to compensate it by taking an extra dose with the next one. It is harmful to use this tablet if you are suffering from any liver disease.

Also pregnant woman or someone planning to get pregnant should not take this drug. You should also consult with your doctor regarding the intake of this drug in case you are suffering from kidney disease or undergoing dialysis.

Some other conditions that require the doctor’s clearance are: if you are taking any prescribed medicine or diet supplements; if you have any food or medicine allergies; if you consume alcohol regularly; if you are suffering from any kind of muscle problems; if you have low blood pressure; if you have diabetes etc.

    How does this medication work?

    Crevast tablet is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor for cholesterol. The primary site of action of rosuvastatin is the liver, the target organ for cholesterol lowering. Rosuvastatin increases the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell-surface, enhancing uptake and catabolism of LDL and it inhibits the hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles.
