Decitabine

Decitabine is used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) such as certain types of anemia or leukemia. Being a nucleoside analog, it inhibits cell growth.

You should be careful if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Decitabine. No specific medical interations with it have been found yet. Let your doctor know if you are taking dietary or herbal supplements, and prescription and non prescription drugs.

It is given in an injection form at the doctor’s office or clinic itself. If you are to use it at home, ask all the questions you need to, to the doctor and be sure of the proper procedure. Remember to never reuse needles and syringes. Never take a double dose of Decitabine, it is better that you skip it till the next time you can take it.

Some of the common side effects of Decitabine are trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, nausea, hair loss, headache and constipation. Seek a doctor immediately if you experience one sided numbness, stomach pain, swelling and vision or speech changes.
