About Delcar Syrup
Delcar Syrup is used for treating certain worm infections by killing the worms. It treats bancroft's filariasis, eosinophilic lung, loiasis and river blindness. It has a few side effects like fever, itching, painful and tender glands in the neck, nausea and vomiting, groin, skin rash, swelling of the face, dizziness, especially the eyes, joint pain, headache and unusual tiredness or weakness.
Delcar Syrup is said to not cause much harm to children as it may to adults. You should inform your doctor if you are allergic to any medicine, product, food substance or to any ingredients present in Delcar Syrup. Inform your doctor about all your medical conditions and history before starting this medicine.
The dose is based on body weight and medical condition so it must be determined by your doctor. The usual dose for adults suffering from loiasis, Bancroft’s filariasis and river blindness is 2 to 3 mg per kilogram of body weight, three times a day. The usual dose for adults suffering from eosinophilic lung is 6 mg per kilogram of body weight, taken for 4 to 7 days.

Delcar Syrup is an antihelmintic drug and is specifically active against parasites. Patients with loiasis and lymphatic filariasis find diethylcarbamazine very effective. The drug basically sensitizes microfilariae to phagocytosis thereby allowing the leucocytes to target and destroy the parasites.
