About Depran L 0.25 Mg/5 Mg Tablet

This tablet is used in treating and preventing seizures. Known as an anti-epileptic and an anti-convulsant, this medicine is administered to control panic attacks. Belonging to a cluster of drugs called benzodiazepines, this tablet works by inducing a calming effect on your nerves and brain.

The dosage of this medicine depends on your particular medical condition, response to the treatment and age. For children, their weight matters as well. Usually, a lower dosage is prescribed for older adults to avert any complication of side effects. Don’t step up the dosage by yourself unless prescribed. The dosage of this tablet needs to be stepped down gradually to prevent any existing condition from flaring up. Also, suddenly stopping this medicine can result in withdrawal symptoms such as mood swings, seizures, muscle cramps, etc.

    How does this medication work?

    This tablet works via a dual mechanism and includes medicine Clonazepam and Escitalopram. It is used for the treatment of anxiety disorder. Clonazepam inhibits the synaptic transmission that occurs in the central nervous system. It also reduces the use of serotonin by neurons and is used to treat seizures and anxiety. Escitalopram is a selective inhibitor of serotonin (5-HT) re-uptake with high affinity for the primary binding site. It also binds to an allosteric site on the serotonin transporter, with a 1000 fold lower affinity.
