About Diprovate Plus G Cream

This is a combination medication which has Betamethasone, Gentamicin, and Zinc Sulfate as active ingredients. It belonging to the glucocorticoid class of medication acts as asteroid. This cream treats various rheumatic disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. Multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, and leukemia can also be treated with this cream.

    How does this medication work?

    This cream is a potent glucocorticoid with minimal mineralocorticoid action. It decreases inflammation by inhibiting the migration of leukocytes and reduces the permeability of capillaries and inhibiting prostaglandins and other inflammatory mediators. Gentamicin belongs to the class aminoglycosides. It works by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosomes thus inhibits the protein synthesis in the bacteria and stops the growth of the bacteria. Zinc Sulfate is an antiseptic.

        Amlodipine

        Mifepristone

        These medicines should not be used together. Combining them would significantly reduce the efficacy of betamethasone. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment in such cases.

        Warfarin

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may need a dose adjustment of warfarin based on the result of clotting time test performed. Any incidence of unusual bleeding and bruising, chest pain, loss of vision, swelling of arms and feet should be reported to the doctor immediately.

        Ethinyl Estradiol

        Ethinyl estradiol can potentially reduce the efficacy of betamethasone. You may need a dose adjustment and special test to safely use these medicines together. Do no stop the use of any medicine without consulting your doctor.

        Insulin

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may need a dose adjustment of the diabetic medicine and more frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels while using them together.

        Ciprofloxacin

        Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. The risks of adverse effects are significantly high especially in the elderly. Your doctor may prescribe a suitable alternative. Any pain or swelling of the tendons in the ankle, shoulder, biceps etc should be reported immediately.

        BCG vaccine

        This cream should not be used when you have taken a vaccine containing a live and attenuated strain of the bacteria or virus. Report any recent vaccine taken to the doctor so that suitable alternatives could be prescribed.

        Tuberculosis

        This cream should be used with caution in patients who have recently recovered from tuberculosis. The risks of a relapse are significantly high and hence close monitoring of signs and symptoms is necessary.

        Electrolyte Imbalance

        This cream is known to cause imbalances in the levels of minerals like calcium, potassium, and sodium in the body. Hence it should be administered with caution in patients with a pre-existing electrolyte imbalance disorder.

        Gastrointestinal Perforations

        This cream is known to cause perforations and bleeding in the gut especially when high doses are consumed. Hence this medicine should be administered with caution in patients having a pre-existing perforation disorder of the stomach or intestine.

        Infections

        This cream can suppress the immune system especially if the dose is high. This may increase the chances of contracting an infection or reduce the capacity to fight an infection. Hence, this medicine or corticosteroids, in general, should not be used in patients with active infections.

        Myocardial Infarction

        This cream should be used with extreme caution in patients who have recovered or are recovering from a recent heart attack.

        Ocular Herpes Infection

        This cream should be used with caution if the patient is suffering from an eye infection caused by herpes simplex virus.

        Scleroderma

        This cream should be used with caution in patients suffering from this disease where the skin and connective tissue beneath becomes hard and stiff.

        Threadworm Infection

        This cream should be used with caution in patients suffering from an infection caused by threadworm (Strongyloides).
