- Duphalac is used to treat chronic constipation by increasing the number of bowel movements in a day. Available in syrup form, it is prescribed for impairment of brain function caused by severe liver disease such as cirrhosis. Commonly observed side-effects are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and nausea.
