About ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET

ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET is used to help reduce the risk of major blood clots and stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. It is also used to prevent blood clots from forming in patients who have had knee or hip replacement surgeries. ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET is a direct factor Xa inhibitor, and it works by effectively blocking the formation and growth of blood clots.

Do not use ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to any of the ingredients present in it, if you have abnormal bleeding problems, if you have a history of liver problems, if you have an artificial heart valve, or if you are taking carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampin, or St. John's wort. Before using ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET tell your doctor if you are using any prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, or other herbal and dietary pills and supplements, if you are allergic to certain food items or substances, if you are pregnant and/or breastfeeding, if you have a history of high blood pressure or blood vessel problems, or if you have recently had any kind of surgery.

ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET is administered via oral tablet form, and should be taken with or without food, as prescribed by the doctor.

Common side effects of ELIQUIS 5MG TABLET include allergic reactions, swelling of the face, mouth, nose or lips, coughing up blood, dizziness and unusual bleeding from the gums.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication works as an anticoagulant that works by inhibiting factor Xa. This prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin which in turn prevents cross-linked blood clots of fibrin from forming.
