When on treatment with thyroxine, tsh levels should come between 3 to 4 milli units, for better control and disappearance of all symptoms. Since your tsh level is 7.41 milli uits/ml, it shows the dose of thyroxine is not adequate. Dose has to go up. In fact in the beginning itself dose should have been higher. If dose is not increased, then most symptoms may come back.

If you achieved that then all symptoms including hair loss will stop. Of all the symptoms hair loss is the last one to go. Plus I am sure you are following the dosing guidelines of taking thyroxine tablets early morning on empty stomach and nothing to be taken after that for 2 hours. This has to be followed always. Secondly avoid soy beans, soy containing products, ...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, tsh level above 6 milli units is considered as sub clinical hypothyroidism. Usually treatment is given after the tsh level crosses 10 milli units / ml. Your bmi is 34.43 kgs/ m2, which is grade 1 obesity. Is the weight increase recent one or you have been having this from earlier? because hypothyroidism does lead to weight gain. Some experts are of the opinion even at sub clinical level, it is better to give thyroxine tablets. That is done if any symptoms related hypothyroidism...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, by saying thyroid 15.04 are you referring to tsh level? if so it is very high. On treatment it should be around 3 to 4 milli units. As for vitamin d, best source is to get exposed to early morning sun. There are vitamin d3 supplements available, they can be used. More importantly your hypothyroidism needs to be checked properly. Thanks for the question.

Mr. Lybrate-user, you have hypothyroidism. This condition remains for lifetime. Treatment has to continue through out. Please tell me current tsh levels. If tsh is between 3 to 4 milli units / ml then all symptoms are in check.

For a hypothyroid condition there is no specific or special food. And it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the thyroid levels, lifestyle and history.
Though you can follow some guidelines -
have small frequent meals.
Do not fast for long hours.
Avoid a very heavy meal at one time.
Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar if having insulin resistance.
Avoid junk foods.
