About Filgrastim

Filgrastim, a hematopoietic agent, decreases the risk of infection in patients suffering from cancer during chemotherapy. It also raises the number of stem cells in the body and treats low white blood cell counts. It also increases survival in patients receiving radiation. It works by increasing the production of neutrophils in the bone marrow.

Possible side effects of using this medicine may include fever, vomiting, cough, joint pain, chest pain and hair loss. Some severe side effects may include allergic reactions and splenic rupture. This medicine should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if there is no other alternative.

You should not use this medicine if you are allergic towards it. You are not recommended to use filgrastim-sndz, tbo-filgrastim or pegfilgrastim while using Filgrastim. Make sure you inform your doctor if you have spleen problems, sickle cell disease or are taking radiation treatment before starting this medicine.

This medicine is administered in your body by injection under the skin or into a vein, usually once daily. Your dosage depends on your weight, medical condition and response to treatment.
