About Gemer 1 Tablet ER

Gemer 1 Tablet is a combination of Glimepiride and Metformin. This is used to treat patients suffering from type 2 Diabetes. patients who can't control blood sugar levels through diet and exercise alone. Hence, this drug is used to enhance the positive effects of diet and exercise about blood sugar.

It is also used in combination with other anti-diabetic medicines. This is a type of sulfonylurea along with Biguanid. This combination of anti-diabetic medicine helps the pancreas in releasing insulin. Through which help in reducing the blood sugar level.

Before starting a course of the medication, there are certain precautions that need to be taken. Firstly, any form of allergy must be mentioned to the consulting doctor. Also, if you have any history of kidney or liver diseases, it should be mentioned to the doctor.

The common side effects arising due to the intake of Gemer are sweating, dizziness, headache, fatigue, weakness, etc. Generally, these side effects are mild and go away on their own after a few days. If it doesn’t then it’s important to seek medical care immediately.

    Gemer Tablet lowers blood glucose by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells. Also, it decreases glucose production in the liver, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing bodies glucose uptake and utilization.

      What are the interactions of Gemer 1 Tablet ER ?

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

      • Interaction with Alcohol

        Avoid using alcohol while taking this medicine. Symptoms such as prolonged weakness and muscle pain, lack of sleep, breathing difficulties after alcohol intake should be reported to the doctor immediately.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        • Iodinated Contrast Media: Discontinue the usage of Gemer 1 Tablet ER at least 48 hours prior to the intake of Iodinated Contrast media. Inform the doctor about Gemer 1 Tablet ER use so that it can be temporarily discontinued.
        • Gatifloxacin: Report the usage of either of the medicine to the doctor. Use of Gemer 1 Tablet ER is not recommended along with Gatifloxacin and suitable alternates should be used instead.
        • Amlodipine: Report the use of either of the medication to the doctor as dose adjustment and safety monitoring may be required.
        • Aloe Vera: Consult your doctor for use of aloe vera while taking Gemer 1 Tablet ER. Suitable dose adjustments and safety monitoring may be required if the intended use is for a long duration.
        • Estradiol: Consult your doctor if you are planning to take Estradiol while taking Gemer 1 Tablet ER. Dose adjustment might be required in such cases. It is advised to consult your doctor before starting or stopping any medication while taking Gemer 1 Tablet ER.
      • Interaction with Disease

        • Lactic Acidosis: You should report the incidence of conditions like kidney impairment, heart disease, severe diarrhea, septicemia to the doctor before taking Gemer 1 Tablet ER. Supervised dosing and monitoring of blood sugar levels might be required in such cases. Any signs and symptoms indicative of the above-mentioned conditions should be reported immediately.
        • Vitamin B12 Deficiency: Inform the doctor about incidences of anemia or Vitamin B12 deficiency so that suitable Vitamin supplements can be prescribed if needed.Vitamin B1 deficiency.
