About Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet

Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of angina pectoris. The I.V. is used for congestive heart failure (especially when associated with acute myocardial infarction). It is also helpful in treating pulmonary hypertension.

During hypertensive emergencies occurring perioperatively (especially during cardiovascular surgery), this medication is primarily prescribed to make it go away. Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet is a kind of nitrate also known as Nitroglycerin, it came into medical use in 1878.

It is used to cure heart failure, high blood pressure, relief from chronic anal fissures and control of blood flow during the course of an operation. Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet helps to widen your blood vessels allowing the increasing flow of blood to your heart muscle.

Side effects of using Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet include headaches, dizziness, low blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, lightheadedness, irregular or fast heartbeat, stomach pain, restlessness, anxiety, sweating. Serious allergic reactions are trouble breathing, skin rashes or swelling.

In case you develop any of the allergic reactions notify your health care provider. Certain precautions that you should ensure before taking this medication include informing you doctor of the following conditions if you have or are:

  • Pregnant or are planning to become pregnant.
  • Breastfeeding a baby.
  • A case of low blood pressure.
  • Low levels of blood or low levels of oxygen.
  • Glaucoma.
  • Allergic to any medicine.

  • Haemorrhoids.

The dosage for Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet depends on your gender, height, weight, medical history and overall health. Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet should be stored in a cool and dry place, out of the reach of children. It can be stored up to eight weeks after which it is recommended that you get a fresh batch.

Do not change brands without consulting prescriber. Do not discontinue abruptly. Keep medication in original container, tightly closed. Take medication while sitting down and use caution when changing position (rise from sitting or lying position slowly).

Gtn 2.6 MG Tablet may cause dizziness. use this medicine with caution when driving or engaging in hazardous activities until response to drug is known. If chest pain is unresolved in 15 minutes, seek emergency medical help at once. Report acute headache, rapid heartbeat, unusual restlessness or dizziness, muscular weakness, or blurring vision.

Concomitant use of sildenafil (Viagra®) may precipitate acute hypotension, myocardial infarction, or death. Nitrates used in right ventricular infarction may induce acute hypotension. Nitrate use in severe pericardial effusion may reduce cardiac filling pressure and precipitate cardiac tamponade.

In the management of heart failure, the combination of isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine confers beneficial effects on disease progression and cardiac outcomes.

May need to use nitrate-free interval (10-12 hours/day) to avoid tolerance development; gradually decrease dose in patients receiving NTG for prolonged period to avoid withdrawal reaction.
