About Indacaterol
Indacaterol is a long-acting beta-agonist bronchodilator. This medication is used primarily for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It functions by widening the airways in the lungs. This enables you to breathe better.
On using this medication you may experience side effects such as nasopharyngitis, headache, nausea, increased sweating, throat soreness, chest pain, cough, rapid or irregular heartbeat and fever. Should your reactions persist or worsen over time or should you experience any uncommon side effects notify your health care provider immediately.
Before using this medication notify your pharmacist or doctor if you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Indacaterol, if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs, if you have asthma, if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding a baby, you have a history of diabetes/ heart problems/ lactose intolerance/ seizures/ high or low blood pressures and if you are taking especially any drug containing Corticosteroid/ Linezolid /Beta-blockers.
The dosage is determined based on your medical history and current condition. However, the usual dose in adults is about 75 mcg that needs to be inhaled once daily.

How does this medication work?
This medication belongs to the class of long-acting bronchodilator with rapid onset. It stimulates adrenergic beta-2 receptors in the respiratory tract smooth muscles, relaxing them. It stimulates adenyl cyclase enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP, also causing dilation of bronchioles.
