About Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop

Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop, belongs to the group of drugs known as beta blockers. It is usually used to treat high blood pressure and glaucoma. It works by effectively blocking the action of chemicals in the body such as epinephrine, and thereby helping to lower the blood pressure.

Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop is not to be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, or if you suffer from a serious heart ailment such as a slow heartbeat or severe cardiac blockage. You must alert the doctor to all current medication, prescription or non-prescription, which you are on such as oral beta blockers or dietary supplements. Intake of other drugs such as insulin, clonidine and reserpine may have adverse effects.

For glaucoma, Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop may be taken in the form of eye drops, while for the reduction of high blood pressure, it may be taken orally, daily, as prescribed by your doctor. Make note that this medicine shouldn’t be stopped suddenly even if you’re feeling fine, as high blood pressure patients don’t feel sick.

Possible side effects of Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop include shortness of breath, drowsiness, trouble in sleeping, nausea and cold hands and feet.

    How does this medication work?

    Iobet 0.5%W/V Eye Drop acts by selectively blocking Beta(1)-adrenergic receptor stimulation in the smooth muscles of heart and blood vessels resulting in reduced heart rate, cardiac output, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It also competitively blocks beta(2)-adrenergic response in bronchial smooth muscles.
